Khurpatal lake sits just below the resort — a quiet, lesser-known water body compared to the bustling Naini Lake. Every morning at 6:30 AM, our local guide leads a small group walk along the lakeside path. It has become one of the most loved rituals at Kaansya.
“Khurpatal is the kind of place that rewards those who arrive before the rest of the town wakes up.”
The Walk
The route follows a gentle loop around the northern shore of Khurpatal. It takes about 45 minutes at a comfortable pace with several stops for birdwatching and photography. The guide shares local ecology notes — migratory bird patterns, seasonal water level changes, and the history of the surrounding orchards. The walk finishes at a chai point before guests return to the resort for breakfast.
No special gear is needed beyond comfortable shoes and a light layer for the early morning chill. The walk operates daily except during heavy rain. Groups are kept to 8 guests maximum.
Why Guests Love It
The appeal is simplicity. There is no itinerary pressure, no ticketing, no vehicles. Just a quiet start to the day with someone who knows the landscape intimately. Several guests have told us it changed how they spent the rest of their trip — slowing down after Khurpatal made them less interested in rushing through typical tourist stops. That is exactly the kind of experience we want to enable at Kaansya.
